PERSPECTIVE SHIFT

WE WERE NEVER DESIGNED TO LIVE “ON” ALL THE TIME.

“Your worth is not measured by how much you can get done.”

Chronic hustle glorifies depletion under the guise of ambition. When we run at maximum capacity without pause, our clarity dims, our relationships fray, and our spirits wear thin. True restoration begins the moment you give yourself permission to step off the treadmill and recover the quiet spaces your soul was made to inhabit.

No pressure. No hurry. Just space to breathe.

GENESIS 2:2-3 · A SACRED CREATION RHYTHM

SO WHAT IS SABBATH?

Sabbath is not a passive pause or a set of legalistic rules. It is God's intentional design woven into the fabric of creation: a weekly sanctuary in time to step away from relentless production and recover our shared humanity.

STEP 01

STOP

Cease striving, put down every project, and deliberately halt the cycle of endless output to remember that you are not defined by what you produce.

STEP 02

REST

Replenish physical vitality, quiet emotional clutter, and indulge in deep sleep and stillness without guilt or anxious anticipation.

STEP 03

WORSHIP

Turn your attention upward in wonder, gratitude, and communal feast, celebrating the goodness of the Creator and His sovereign care.

STEP 04

RECONNECT

Rebuild intentional communion with family, table fellowship with neighbors, and mindful presence in creation and community.

COMMANDMENT
Exodus 20:8–11

WHY SATURDAY?

We worship on Saturday because Scripture identifies the seventh day as Sabbath.

From the opening chapters of Scripture, God wove a rhythm of purposeful work and sacred rest into the fabric of creation. Celebrating the seventh day is an invitation to pause, unplug from the relentless pace of modern life, and delight in the God who made us and sustains us.

At Valley Crossroads, our Saturday gathering is never an obligation to earn God's affection or prove our devotion. It is our joy-filled, grateful response to a grace already freely given. We rest because He is faithful, and we worship together because we are cherished.

CREATION
Genesis 2:2–3

Before nations or rituals ever existed, the seventh day was blessed as a sanctuary in time: a weekly reminder that our identity is defined by who God is, not by what we produce.

COMMANDMENT
Exodus 20:8–11

The Sabbath became part of the Ten Commandments, where God called His people to remember the seventh day and keep it set apart for rest and worship.

JESUS
Luke 4:16

True Sabbath rest mirrors the finished work of Jesus. We cease our striving because Christ has already secured our redemption, giving us permission to rest in His unconditional grace.

EARLY CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY
Acts 13:42–44

Saturdays are when our church family shares meals, forms deep friendships, and serves our neighborhood. It is a shared rhythm that revitalizes our spirits for the week ahead.

JESUS SHOWED US WHAT SABBATH IS FOR.

“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”
- MARK 2:27

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus consistently used the Sabbath to heal the suffering, lift heavy burdens, and restore broken hearts. He dismantled rigid legalism to reveal God's true heart: Sabbath is not a demanding standard to perform for God, but a gift of grace to receive rest and wholeness from Him.

WHAT TO EXPECT

QUESTIONS ARE WELCOME.

We want you to feel entirely at ease from the moment you arrive. Here are helpful details about joining us.

WHEN DOES SABBATH BEGIN?

In the biblical pattern, Sabbath is observed from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. It creates a full day set apart from the ordinary rhythm of the week.

Reference: Leviticus 23:32

WHAT DO PEOPLE DO ON SABBATH?

Sabbath can include worship, prayer, Scripture, family time, fellowship, rest, time in nature, acts of compassion, and anything that helps redirect our attention toward God and the people He has placed in our lives.

IS SABBATH ABOUT RULES?

We believe Sabbath is first a gift. Healthy boundaries help protect that gift, but the purpose is not religious performance.

Jesus described Sabbath as something made for people, not people made for Sabbath.

Reference: Mark 2:27

WHY DON’T YOU WORSHIP ON SUNDAY?

Many Christians worship on Sunday, and we respect their desire to honor God.

Valley Crossroads worships on Saturday because we understand the seventh-day Sabbath described throughout Scripture to be God’s continuing invitation to weekly rest, worship, and renewal.

CAN I COME IF I’M JUST CURIOUS?

Absolutely. You are welcome to come, observe, ask questions, and experience Sabbath with us without pressure.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear what helps you feel comfortable. You will see a range of styles at Valley Crossroads. You do not need special clothes to worship with us.
