Whether you are taking your very first step toward God, returning after years away, or simply searching for a place of authentic rest, know this: you do not have to have your life all figured out to belong here.
At Valley Crossroads, our doors and our hearts are wide open. We are a family walking together in grace, learning the rhythm of biblical faith, and discovering the restorative hope found in Jesus Christ. You are welcome here exactly as you are.
LEAD Pastor, Valley Crossroads
Some of life’s hardest seasons become heavier when we carry them by ourselves.
At Valley Crossroads, friendships grow, families are supported, questions are welcome, and people learn to follow Jesus together.

For more than two decades, Dr. Roscoe Shields, Jr. has dedicated his life to pastoring with an intentional focus on church renewal, spiritual vitality, and authentic discipleship. Rather than treating ministry as administrative oversight, he approaches every congregation as an evolving family called to reflect the grace and compassion of Christ.
His calling centers on transforming faith communities into welcoming sanctuaries where searching hearts discover biblical truth, families find restoration, and believers mature into active servants. Through collaborative leadership and patient discipleship, he walks alongside everyday people to cultivate lasting spiritual depth.
Faith should bring peace, not pressure. Ministry is not about imposing heavy spiritual burdens, but walking together through the everyday realities of life with scripture that heals, clarifies, and grounds your daily walk.
Rooted deeply in scripture, uncovering timeless truths without legalism or spiritual jargon so the text speaks clearly to contemporary souls.
Translating sacred wisdom into concrete guidance for your work, family decisions, emotional health, and everyday relationships.
Meeting people honestly where they are, offering pastoral presence, active listening, and a safe community without judgment.
Framing every challenge through the lens of redemption, grace, and the enduring assurance that your story is not finished.
Pastor Shields approaches preaching with the conviction that people should leave worship spiritually strengthened for the week ahead.
Messages at Valley Crossroads seek to be:
ROOTED IN SCRIPTURE
The Bible drives the message.
CENTERED ON JESUS
The goal is more than information.
It is encounter and transformation.
CONNECTED TO REAL LIFE
Faith should speak to relationships, work, family, culture, pressure, purpose, healing, and everyday decisions.
SOCIALLY AWARE
Biblical truth should help us understand both personal responsibility and the world we are called to serve.
HONEST ABOUT HUMAN STRUGGLE
Church should be a place where we can tell the truth about what hurts, what challenges us, and where we still need grace.
FILLED WITH HOPE
The gospel should move people from burden toward possibility, from despair toward faith, and from fear toward courage.
PRACTICAL
Every message should help people understand what faithful living looks like beyond the sanctuary.
The goal is not simply to leave people impressed.
It is to help people encounter God, understand truth, and walk into the week with greater faith, courage, compassion, and purpose.

It is to help people encounter God, understand truth, and walk into the week with greater faith, courage, compassion, and purpose.

Preaching matters.
But ministry also happens in conversations, hospital rooms, prayer circles, family moments, difficult seasons, celebrations, questions, decisions, and ordinary life.
Pastor Shields believes people should experience church as more than a weekly program.
Church should become a community where people are seen, encouraged, challenged, prayed for, and reminded that they do not have to carry life alone.
Church should feel like family.
Dr. Roscoe Shields, Jr. leads Valley Crossroads with a singular pastoral commitment: establishing an authentic sanctuary in the heart of the San Fernando Valley where every person is known, valued, and grounded in biblical truth. In a fast-paced urban corridor, this ministry serves as an anchor of grace and intentional fellowship.

"Church should feel like family without requiring you to pretend."
— DR. ROSCOE SHIELDS, JR.
Grounding pastoral care in robust biblical scholarship and over two decades of faithful, ordained ministry leadership across diverse congregations.
Whether you are returning to faith, seeking community, or walking through our doors for the very first time, you belong here. Come as you are, bring your questions, and experience worship grounded in biblical truth and warm fellowship.
