CHILDREN AT VALLEY CROSSROADS
Children should experience church as more than a place adults bring them.
They should know they are loved by God, valued by their church, and part of a community where their faith can grow.
At Valley Crossroads, our desire is to help children develop a loving, serving relationship with Jesus through biblical truth, meaningful relationships, worship, prayer, participation, and joy.

Children should experience a church where people notice them, learn their names, encourage them, and remind them that they belong.
We want children to understand Scripture, know Jesus personally, learn to pray, and discover what following Jesus looks like in everyday life.
Faith should include: wonder; laughter; music; creativity; friendship; participation; celebration.
Children should know that God can use their gifts now. They can pray. Serve. Welcome others. Participate. Encourage people. And contribute to the life of the church.
Children should never feel invisible in church.

Sabbath gives children a weekly rhythm centered on God, community, worship, and spiritual growth.
At Valley Crossroads, children begin Sabbath morning with Children’s Sabbath School before the main worship experience. Children’s Sabbath School provides an age-appropriate opportunity to:
Children need experiences created with them in mind.
They also need to know that they belong to the whole church family.
At Valley Crossroads, children are part of the main worship experience.
They see adults worship. Hear Scripture. Experience prayer. Participate in the life of the congregation. And learn that church belongs to them too.
Church should feel like family.

Children’s Story is part of the Valley Crossroads worship experience.
It creates a moment within the larger service that speaks directly to children through biblical truth, storytelling, illustration, and practical application.
It also reminds the entire congregation that children are seen, valued, and included in worship.
It is part of the regular worship experience.

Valley Crossroads is home to an Adventurer Club.
Adventurers is part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s ministry to children and families.
Through spiritual learning, relationships, practical activities, family participation, and service, children are encouraged to grow in their friendship with Jesus and discover the gifts God has given them.
At Valley Crossroads, Children’s Church is a special worship experience rather than a separate weekly ministry.
On selected occasions, children may experience worship, teaching, prayer, music, activities, and participation in ways designed specifically for them.
These special experiences complement rather than replace the important role of children worshiping with the larger church family.

Working with children is both a privilege and a serious responsibility.
Valley Crossroads volunteers who serve with children are screened through LiveScan.
Our goal is to create an environment where parents and caregivers can feel confident that children are being treated with care, respect, and appropriate supervision.
Children come with different:
Our desire is for every child to experience the love of Jesus and know they are a valued part of the church family.
We want to listen, learn, and help families find meaningful ways for their children to participate and grow.
Children’s spiritual growth does not stop when Sabbath worship ends.
Some of the most important faith moments happen:
Church should come alongside parents and caregivers as they help children develop a personal relationship with Jesus.
Faith has to work at home too.

Children do not have to wait until adulthood to participate in the mission of the church.
They can learn to:
Service helps children discover:
“My faith matters.”
“My gifts matter.”
“God can use me.”
We’re looking forward to more opportunities for children and families to worship, learn, connect, serve, and enjoy life together.
